PLEASE INVITE YOUR WHOLE FRIENDS LIST, CONTINUED ACTIVISM UNTIL WE THE PEOPLE SEE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY.......UPDAT
Coles & Woolworth own too big a slice of the Australian retail industry, and wield that power in search of the shiny dollars for their CEO's and shareholders, with little if any social accountability.
The destruction of our food bowl & its farmers and producers, Alcohol and Pokies, fuel price manipulation, and we all know the bigger they get the worse it will get, 87
% of the grocery industry is too much already, at 100%, what do you think will happen?
Over the last decade the primary production industry has endured some tough times, due in the most to corporate greed, incompetence and excessive red tape of successive governments and unfair competition from subsidised imports.
For many years I have met with many farmers and growers and try as I may to support local fresh produce, the issues facing the industry continue to escalate.
Recent headlines relating to foreign dumping of inferior produce, the foreign buy up of water and farm land, product labelling issues and unfair trade practices have resulted in many being forced of their land, in fact at the current rate, with in 5 years the primary production industry will be totally devastated, in favour of cheap imports and huge corporate owned farms.
The big two in the grocery industry, have used their buying power and huge slice of the retail market to ride roughshod over hard working family farms, and just this week it appears they are using their market dominance to interfere in the wholesale market.
Until these issues can be addressed, it appears the only short term answer is to ensure you as growers have a variety of avenues to sell your produce for a fair market price, a price that covers costs and rewards the hard work you all put in on a daily basis.
And we the people must suppot all farmers and growers, by demanding only local produce, while denying the big duopoly and more room to expand
