Carbon tax is totally the wrong thing to do

16 Jul, 2011 04:00 AM
I recently received a letter from the Prime Minister urging me to tell my friends to support the carbon tax. Here is my reply:
I have to tell you that I am appalled at the proposed carbon tax you are implementing, with the claim that it is the right thing to do.
It is only the right thing to do if you are trying desperately to balance your budget.
My statement to you is this: ‘Carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant!’
You really should start listening to people who are not paid by the IPCC, such as some of your CSIRO people are.
Out of every million molecules in the atmosphere, only 380 are carbon dioxide!
Of these 380 molecules, only 19 are generated by human activity. Of these 19 molecules, fewer than one is generated by horrible Australian human activity.
Carbon dioxide does warm the planet, but it is not a lineal warming!
The warming effect wears off a bit with the increase in concentration.
With a two-degree warming we will not lose the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney will not get washed away, and polar bears will not disappear from the earth.
Millions of square miles of the Siberian Tundra will become arable, Greenland will be green again, and life will go on.
Let me ask you, Prime Minister, why did Professor Jones of East Anglia University lie about global warming?
Why did Robert Manne lie about the tree rings in his study?
Why do they want to bring about a worldwide panic about AGW?
Are you aware of the scientific study from Texas recently that predicts global cooling of roughly two degrees over the next 20 years, brought about by a lack of sunspots?
There is far too much evidence to contradict the IPCC studies to take the position that you have taken.
To me this smacks of desperation on your part, and no amount of ‘selling’ this toxic piece of legislation will make it the right thing to do.
It is totally the wrong thing to do, Prime Minister.
