"ISRAEL ignores world leaders demand for a ceasefire" as they continue to kill children.

"ISRAEL pounded Gaza from air and sea in the deadliest day of the war.
World leaders ignored over demand for Israel to stop the killing.

Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip early last night killed 10 people, raising the Palestinian death toll to 87 as Israel's relentless air campaign entered its sixth day.
The latest to die were two farmers in a strike in Qarara, east of Khan Yunis in the southern Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
Shortly before that, three people were killed in a strike on a car in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, all of them from the same family. In Gaza City, two women and a child were among four killed in a strike on the Zeitun neighbourhood.

Medics said a man had been found dead in the northern town of Beit Lahiya. He was Abdel Rahman al-Atar, a 50-year-old farmer.

Israeli soldiers conduct their morning prayers in a deployment area on Israel's border with the Gaza Strip. Israel is preparing to launch a second phase ground war.
In the day's deadliest violence, the Israeli navy fired at a house where it said a wanted leading militant was hiding. The missile struck the home of the Daloo family in Gaza City, reducing the structure to rubble.
Among the 11 dead were four small children and five women, including an 81-year-old, Gaza health official Ashraf al-Kidra said.

Israel yesterday defended its targeting of two buildings used by the media. Six journalists were injured in the attacks, one losing his leg. The offices were in separate tower blocks, both housing media offices.
Khalil Abu Foul, of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, said half of those killed had been women and children. "This is a big humanitarian crisis," he told the BBC.
The World Health Organisation said Gaza was facing a shortage of medical supplies and that its hospitals were overwhelmed with casualties.
Israel's decision to step up its attacks in Gaza marked a new and risky phase of the operation, given the likelihood of civilian casualties in the densely populated territory of 1.6 million Palestinians.

“Israel is guilty and will do what is necessary as a result of its crime

Palestinians pull a body of a child from under the rubble of the Daloo family house following an Israeli air strike in Gaza City. Ten people, most from the same family, were killed in the attack.

The Power of Attorney Document - we'll discuss this on 20th November, 2012

A bit of light reading. If your friends have doubts, get them to read each entry. Be ready to discuss tomorrow.

The only addition I can bring is that it would seem that WA law regarding the Power of Attorney would be the operative law in that Blewitt was domiciled in WA when the "donation" was made. - Michael Smith

"An issue a day until the parliament resumes - tomorrow the Power of Attorney
Tomorrow we'll kick off with the Power of Attorney.

Be prepared to make your comments known.   Ask any friends who might have doubts about whether Ms Gillard did anything wrong.

I'll post the exhibits you'll need to consider later on tonight, then we should have a full day of detailed discussion about the merits disclosed on the documents and the known statements of parties including Ms Gillard, Mr Blewitt et al.

Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see on the exhibit list for tomorrow's discussion.

Julie Bishop and her role as Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister

Michael Smith : I received this note overnight, I've changed a couple of details to protect the author's identity:
" I am an Australian living in Papua New Guinea and I`m still wondering when the PM and Foreign
Minister of Australia are going to visit PNG. I (am involved in healthcare in PNG) and I`m extremely
concerned at the epidemic of drug resistant TB that I`m dealing with on a daily basis and I can't get any
help from Australia. If something isn`t done soon this won't only be killing PNGeans it will also become
Australias epidemic.  If at some time you get a little bored maybe you could also shame the Foreign
Minister into playing in his own backyard instead of continually trotting off and getting involved in
Northern hemisphere politics. Please keep up the good work."
Bob Carr as you know is the Foreign Minister.
This is a critical foreign affairs issue for Australia.   It's only a few islands, then Cooktown, Port Douglas,
Cairns and the rest of the country.   The prospect of drug-resistant TB in Australia is a shocking one.
I sent the note with a note of my own to Julie Bishop's office early this morning.   I was pleasantly shocked
with the speed and completeness of Julie Bishop's response, especially when I can see how much work
she is putting in on other areas of her parliamentary responsibility.   It's a shame the actual minister Bob
Carr isn't anywhere near as active on the issue.
Hi Mike

Thanks for sending the email on.

I was in Pt Moresby, Goroka and Lae last week and took up this issue including detailed briefing
from health advisers with AusAid.

I have visited both Pt Moresby and Goroka hospitals and the situation is grim.

After Bob Carr insulted PNG by calling for sanctions to be imposed if PNG delayed its election
he may get a cool reception!

It is a matter I have been working on with Warren Entsch who has made statements in
Parliament about the issue.

Cheers
Julie

I would like to set the record straight about Ian Cambridge and also to set out a few ground-rules for this little
piece of the internet. No human I know of could have done more to bring The AWU Scandal to the attention of
the proper authorities than Ian Cambridge did.Commissioner Cambridge's call for a Royal Commission into
his union was unprecedented and it remains a unique call to root out union corruption.

Ian Cambridge and his family, small children, suffered greatly as a direct result of his honesty and his
action. In that regard he has something in common with Bob Kernohan and latterly Kathy Jackson.

While it must have been a relief to move on to a job at the New South Wales Industrial Relations
Commission, you'd be hard-pressed to describe it as a bribe. The published salary package for an IRC
commissioner in NSW at the time was considerably less than the package for the National Secretary of the
AWU.
You know I don't impose censorship - but I won't cop untrue and unfair defamation of a good man's character.  And Ian

Cambridge is a good man.

THE government has gone on the front foot against what it describes as the  ''smearing'' of Julia Gillard, with
a counter-smear against Deputy Opposition  Leader Julie Bishop.
It questions the behaviour of Ms Bishop - who has recently carried the  opposition attack over Ms Gillard's
involvement in the AWU affair - from when  she was a solicitor acting for CSR in asbestos cases.
Cabinet minister Brendan O'Connor said on Sunday that people were sick of the  smearing that was going
on, in which Tony Abbott was using Ms Bishop as his  ''proxy''. ''Julie Bishop … has her own questions to
answer.''
He said there were matters arising out of her role as lawyer for CSR ''where  she used allegedly procedural
tactics to deny victims of asbestosis their day in  court''.
Ms Bishop said she was  happy to answer any questions about any aspects of  her ethical and professional
behaviour during her 20-year legal career. This was  ''unlike Julia Gillard, who is not prepared to answer
questions about her  professional conduct''.
The latest allegations relate to two test cases in the early 1990s involving  CSR as the parent company of
Australian Blue Asbestos and the West Australian  State Government Insurance Office. The cases were to
test if CSR had liability -  after a judge found that it did, many workers' claims were paid.
Mr O'Connor told the ABC Ms Bishop was seeking ''to smear the government and  the Prime Minister  with
unsubstantiated allegations and I think there's some  questions that she should be answering as well''.
Ms Bishop denied any allegations of delay. She said that at all times she had  acted on the instructions of
clients and  the advice of barristers.

Cure for cancer found in Canada, but Big Pharma says "NO" ,we cannot make a profit- DCA returns to the headlines

Could scenes like these be a thing of the past if DCA is found to be the magic bullet in cancer research?

A wave of optimism is once again sweeping the world due to longstanding reports that researchers at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada have identified a treatment that could cure an unprecidented amount of cancers.
Reports from 2007 and 2008 are once again circulating and have sparked interest in cancer research involving the use of dichloroacetate (DCA), a well known substance used in the treatment of metabolic disorders.
"The DCA compound is not patented and not owned by any pharmaceutical company," says a University of Alberta report "and, therefore, would likely be an inexpensive drug to administer, says Dr. Evangelos Michelakis, the Canada Research Chair in Pulmonary Hypertension and Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program with Capital Health, one of Canada's largest health authorities."
In simple terms, DCA is thought to be effective in the treatment of cancer because "In human bodies there is a natural cancer fighting human cell, the mitochondria," reports HubPages "but they need to be triggered to be effective.
"Scientists used to think that these mitochondria cells were damaged" continues the report "and thus ineffective against cancer, so they used to focus on glycolysis, which is less effective in curing cancer and more wasteful.
"The drug manufacturers focused on this glycolysis method to fight cancer. This DCA on the other hand doesn’t rely on glycolysis instead on mitochondria; it triggers the mitochondria which in turn fights the cancer cells"
Other doctors and researchers around the world have not been as quick to jump on the "We Cured Cancer" parade float, including contributors to the ScienceBlogs website who offered counter enthusiasm via Dr Len's Cancer Blog to the growing swell in a report of their own.
This research still needs lots of work before we know whether it works or doesn't work, and whether it is really safe or not when given to patients with cancer under a variety of circumstances. If that sounds overly cautious, so be it. I have seen too many dashed hopes in my medical career which make me a bit cautious about reports like this. That's not to say I don't think it could work--it could, as I mentioned above--but I want to see evidence in well done trials that prove the point that DCA is effective in the treatment of which cancers under what circumstances. Early in my cancer training there was a substance isolated by a researcher that was supposedly non-toxic and would cure leukemia. The research center where I was working was inundated from people around the globe who wanted this treatment, especially after the lead researcher injected himself on a nationwide morning show to demonstrate its apparent lack of toxicity. Only grams of this medicine existed. Fortunes were offered in return for getting this miracle drug. But the miracle drug--after reasonable clinical trials were done--didn't work after all.
The most up to date news and information about the use of DCA can be found at The DCA Site, which has documentation about current clinical trials, warnings about fraudulant distribution of the drug and a lengthy resource center and support network.
What do you think about this story? Do you think the cure for cancer has been found or should the medical world stay cautious for the time being?

Is the cure for cancer in Canada, DCA returns to the headlines

Barnett weighs into union saga - The West Australian

Colin Barnett said yesterday he would seek an explanation from the State Records Office about a missing file of public documents relating to a union slush fund that Julia Gillard helped set up 20 years ago if he received a formal complaint about it.

The Premier weighed into the saga surrounding the Prime Minister's involvement with a union slush fund in the early 1990s after Federal Liberal Deputy Leader Julie Bishop called for an investigation into the whereabouts of the file and other missing documents relevant to the union's operations.
Fund money was allegedly used fraudulently by Ms Gillard's then-boyfriend, Australian Workers Union official Bruce Wilson.
Paperwork for the creation of an association allegedly used to plunder funds, filed with the WA Commissioner for Corporate Affairs in 1992, should be contained in a State Records Office file, but is reportedly missing.
The AWU Workplace Reform Association's constitution said it was dedicated to workplace safety but in a 1995 interview with her law firm Slater & Gordon, conducted not long before she left the firm, Ms Gillard described it as a "slush fund" for union officials.
There is no evidence Ms Gillard knew about the alleged frauds and she has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. In August she said she provided legal advice to set up the slush fund but knew nothing about its workings until 1995.
It is unclear when the documents in the file went missing but it is an offence to destroy such records without permission. As well as the empty WA file, Slater & Gordon has revealed it cannot locate its file on the association, which Ms Gillard helped create.
Court files detailing the AWU's discovery of fraud 17 years ago and the fight to overturn redundancies to union officials including Mr Wilson have also vanished.
Ms Bishop said unless there was a plausible explanation for two sets of official documents going missing "you would have to assume" they had been stolen.
Late yesterday, Mr Barnett said: "If a formal complaint comes to me, I will seek some explanation from the State Records Office."
Federal Housing Minister Brendan O'Connor said people were "sick of the smear" in relation to Ms Gillard's role in the AWU saga.

REAL AMERICANS DO NOT SUPPORT ISRAEL! Talk about US/Israel Crisis - Sabbah Report

Talk about US/Israel Crisis

During the last two weeks people were faced with a propaganda campaign trying to convince them that there developed a crisis in the American Israeli relationships due to’s announcement of approving the building of 1600 Jewish only housing units in occupied east  Palestinian suburb of Shu’fat on the day of ’s visit to March 9th.
Major media sources and many politicians declared this announcement as an Israeli slap on Biden’s face, especially after the Palestinian Authority, backed by Arab leaders, had just accepted American mediation in indirect talks (proximity talks as per Hillary’s description).
gaza_war_israel_operation_pillar_of_cloud_dalo_family_005
The announcement, in reality, was an Israeli gift to Biden that also included a framed document announcing the planting of several trees in Jerusalem in memory of Biden’s mother; a loyal supporter of Israel. This was an excellent gift, rather than a slap, for the ardent self-proclaimed Zionist Biden. During his visit Biden went to Tel Aviv University to tell his audience that he is a Zionist. He proclaimed: “Throughout my career, Israel has not only remained close to my heart but it has been the center of my work as a United States Senator and now as vice president of the United States.” Israel, rather than the United States, seems to be closer to Biden’s heart. Biden is a living proof that one does not have to be Jewish in order to be a Zionist, as he stated in a televised interview on Shalom TV.
Zionist’s main tenets are the genocide of Palestinians, the confiscation of their land, the building of more Jewish only residents, especially in Jerusalem, and the erection of the third temple in place of Al-Aqsa mosque.
The announcement also confirms the Zionist plan for the region that had been adopted by every successive Israeli leader. Every time the Palestinians and Arab leaders make another step towards peace with Israel, its leaders take a more aggressive step such as driving their tanks into Palestinian cities, confiscating more land, or building more colonies. Netanyahu’s government had destroyed the Salman Al-Farisi mosque in the Palestinian village of Burin, had added the Islamic Ibrahimi and Bilal Mosques to Israel’s heritage list, and besides the 60 synagogues surrounding the Islamic Al-Aqsa Mosque had announced the completion of the Hurva Synagogue (The Ruin Synagogue) few meters away from Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is seen by Moslems as another closer step towards the destruction of their Mosque.
The American/Israeli relationship has never been stronger than what it is today. The United States had supported Israel since her bastard birth in 1948 in the midst of the Arab World as an expansionist colonial state. It took the then American President, Harry Truman, only eleven minutes to recognize Israel as a state, and he did it even without consulting the.

Israel constituted an important military base and a military mercenary army for the West, especially for France, UK and US. Joe Biden, in his interview on Shalom TV (previous link), had explained this fact very clearly. In 1956 Israel was a mercenary army for United Kingdom and for France against Egypt after Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser had nationalized Suez Canal taking it away from British control, and had supported the Algerian revolution against the French occupation. For this service Israel received French technological help to build its nuclear reactor in Dimona, and received heavy water to contain nuclear rods from United Kingdom.

For the United States Israel served as a military base for testing new American weapons against the Palestinians. Palestine is used by Israel as the testing ground, and Palestinians as the test subjects for the new American made weapons. Many NGOs has documented the use of biological, chemical and nuclear weapons against Palestinians and Arabs during Israel’s wars against Lebanon and against Gaza Strip.
Israel was also used by the successive American administrations as an existential threat to Arab countries especially the oil rich Gulf States. This threat has facilitated the sale of large amounts of American weapons, although ineffectual and obsolete, to the Gulf States. Such sale helped American weapon manufacturers to thrive, and also helped to siphon the oil money into the American banks. The Israeli threat to the Gulf States helped justify the building of American military bases in the Gulf States under the pretense of protecting these states.
Israel was also considered the Western frontal defense line against Communist expansion in the Middle East. Yet after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Israel lost this usefulness. Israel, though, had regained its usefulness as an American partner in war against terror after the attacks of 911. Many investigations had pointed the finger towards special Mossad demolition squad as the possible planner and executor of this attack.
Bush’s alleged “global war on terror” had flipped the American/Israeli military equation upside down. The United States had become Israel’s free mercenary army fighting Israel’s wars in proxy. The invasion of Iraq is one clear example. The two major Iraqi oil pipe lines, one from northern Kurdish Iraq to Turkey’s coast through Syria and the other from southern Iraq to the Persian Gulf, were cut off. They both were directed to Israel’s Haifa ports through Jordan.
The cold war against Iran and the graduating pressure to subdue the Iranian regime through economic sanctions and incitement of internal conflict and terror attacks serve only Israel. To keep Israel the strongest military power in the region this cold war is waged under the pretense of Iran’s nuclear program aimed at developing a nuclear bomb, a pretense refuted several times by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and by Iran’s willingness to exchange its rich uranium. Meanwhile the Western countries are ignoring the very well established fact of Israel’s stockpiling at least 200 nuclear bombs, and that France and US had signed agreements with some Arab countries, such as Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and UAE to build nuclear reactors similar to that in Iran.
Thanks to AIPAC the American administration has become zionized. Israel’s interests and welfare had gained higher priority than American interests and welfare. At the expense of the American tax payers the US had supported Israel with technology and most sophisticated weapons to attack Lebanon and Gaza Strip. Israel’s terrorists and war criminals are protected and shielded by American political support and intimidation of other countries at the UN. The Congress had backed Israel’s 2008 war crimes against Gaza and condemned Goldstone’s Report by a vote of 334 to 36.
The Congress had approved the $3 billion annual military assistance to Israel. Using American tax money the administration is paying for free complete medical coverage for every Israeli citizen, and is subsidizing Israeli residential projects while those American tax payers lack necessary medical coverage and are losing their homes.
The Zionized American administration had ignored General Petraeus’s warnings to the US Senate Armed Services Committee that the unconditional biased American support to Israel foments anti-American sentiments, and endangers the lives of American soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and in the Moslem World in general. The administration seems to care about the lives of Zionist Israelis, for they are allegedly god’s chosen people, more than they care about the lives of their own soldiers; some worthless goyims.
In a sign of support to Israel by the States Senate and under the initiative of Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) a letter was sent to Secretary Clinton urging her to do what she can to undermine the effects of what they call “the untimely announcement of housing construction in East Jerusalem”. They also blame the Palestinian intransigence for failure to restart the peace negotiation, and asking that the administration should not publicly criticize Israel even when Israel does things to publicly embarrass the administration.
On the other hand at the Congress more than 250 members have signed onto a declaration sent to Hillary Clinton reaffirming their commitment to “the unbreakable bond that exists between the U.S. and the State of Israel … we believe, as President  said, that Israel’s security is paramount in our Middle East policy and that it is in U. S. national security interests to assure that Israel’s security as an independent Jewish state is maintained.
In her speech at AIPAC’s March 22nd Conference Hillary Clinton gave an enthusiastic speech praising what she alleged Israel’s commitment to peace and pledging America’s perpetual support to Israel. “The future of both countries (US & Israel) are bound together … our commitment to Israel’s security and to Israel’s future is rock solid” Hillary affirmed.
Obama’s approach to Israel is reflected in his speech to AIPAC on June 3rd 2008, while still a presidential candidate, when he stated: “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided … I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Everything in my power. Everything and I mean everything.”
So, what is the fuss about this so-called US/Israeli crisis? This is a double stick-and-carrot approach to the Arab leaders, who are having their summit this weekend (March 27 & 28). It is meant as a face saving for the US and giving the illusion that the administration might pressure Israel providing the Arab leaders do not come up with any strong resolutions and give the administration the time to deal with Israel. The stick comes in the Congress’s commitment to Israel’s security.

The ball is now in the Arab’s court. What will the Arab leaders decide in their summit; the usual empty condemnations or real action this time?
